Micheal Wood from BP visits EngineerAid

EngineerAid

Event date:  2007-08-20 17:03:52

This month the EngineerAid team were given a presentation by Michael Wood, a senior engineer and project manager who works for BP and is based in Aberdeen. Michael who is currently overseeing large-scale seabed installations in the North Sea, found out about EngineerAid several months ago and was very enthusiastic about the concept of our charity and wanted to help.

Engineering companies like BP are making an enormous commitment to improving the conditions in the developing countries in which they work. The concept of remote assistance offered by EngineerAid seems to fit in remarkably well with the goals of the development work we are undertaking – knowledge sharing in a sustainable, low carbon footprint way.

Michael’s presentation gave the EngineerAid team overview of type and scale of development work undertaken by large companies such as BP and explored potential areas of collaboration. EA Board Chairperson Susan Laing - “It was a very useful discuss and we would like to thank Michael for volunteering his time.” Michael has added his name to our list of volunteer engineers and we hope to have further involvement with him over the coming months.
